Question:My (very) ex-boyfriend has donated his curse to me, and I am distinctly unimpressed! Is there a cure for genital herpes?
Answer:Genital herpes is caused by a virus that reactivates regularly for many months or years to cause painful blisters and sores on the genitals of both men and women. Usually, the attacks become less frequent and less severe as time passes, but some patients continue to have acute attacks for long periods of time. The best treatment is to use soothing and drying lotions and creams on the sores. In recent years, new antiviral medications have been developed which will settle a particular attack of Herpes, and if taken regularly will prevent recurrences, but do not give a permanent cure. If you are suffering severely, it is worthwhile discussing their use with your doctor.
