Question:Is drinking safe during pregnancy? What could be the risk for my unborn baby if I drink occasionally?
Answer:Drinking must be avoided by pregnant ladies. Generally, it is difficult to determine the exact amount of alcohol which can harm the unborn babies because every woman' s metabolic response to alcohol is different. So, on the safer side, it will be good, if you abstain from alcohol during your pregnancy.

By consuming alcohol, you will be putting your unborn child on a risk of various serious health problems. When a pregnant woman takes alcohol, it reaches the baby through mother' s bloodstream by crossing placenta very soon. If you consume alcohol regularly in a moderate amount, your unborn baby may develop fatal alcohol syndrome (FAS). Although treatment is available for this, it can not be cured. FAS create lots of health problem to the born child like behavioral problems, mental disorder, and growth retardation. Even if you are taking lesser amount your unborn child may develop various birth defects and activity problems than kids of women who did not consume alcohol at all. A small amount of alcohol may harm your developing baby. Alcohol consumption during pregnancy can cause miscarriage also.

Please keep this thing in mind that no amount of alcohol is beneficial for your unborn child. So, try to stop drinking during pregnancy and if you are unable to do so, take the help from your doctor.
