Question:What is binge drinking? What are its consequences? Sometimes, I go with my friends on weekends to have drinks with them. Will it be considered as binge drinking?
Answer:Binge drinking means drinking a larger amount of alcohol over a short period of time. On a standard basis, consuming 5 or more drinks in a continuation for a men and consuming 4 or more drinks in a continuation for women will be considered as binge drinking.

People normally do binge drinking in order to reduce the stress from their day today life and to feel good. Sometimes, special offers provided by bars or liquor providers and attractive advertisements lures younger ones to go for binge drinking.

If you go for a binge drinking, you might compromise with your ability to pay attention on things and also with your working memory. Binge drinkers have less efficiency to perform any task and require more attention to pay while executing any task.

Binge drinking results in vomiting and other serious health problems. Binge drinking also causes significant brain damage. If you drink a large amount quickly with empty stomach a blackout occurs, when you forget the things for a time being or unable to recall events. So, binge drinking is dangerous and should be avoided.

If you have moderate drinks with your friends, which does not harm your health, it can not be considered as binge drinking.
