Question:Is it safe for my four-year-old grandson, diagnosed with asthma, to have his second MMR vaccination?
Answer:Personally, I wouldn' t recommend it. There is already evidence that some sensitive children become more prone to asthma as a consequence of vaccinations. It is certainly logical that a child whose immune system is already hypersensitive may struggle to deal with three simultaneous infections. If he were my child I would a) insist on separate vaccinations and b) for four days following the vaccination have him avoid both gluten and dairy. This is because introducing an immune reaction, which is what a vaccination does, may theoretically increase the chances of the immune system ' cross-reacting' to other proteins.

Gluten and dairy proteins are the most common food proteins to which children become sensitive.
