Question:Would an inversion machine help my bad back?
Answer:These machines are usually a narrow table with padded boots at one end. You strap your feet into the boots, and then tilt the table so that you are suspended head down. The idea is to stretch the back using your own body weight, and relieve the pain caused by narrowed discs in the back. The concept does work in some people, but it can aggravate sinus conditions and has been known to cause strokes. I feel it would be wise to check with a doctor to find out if your condition can be helped by this type of back traction, and then see a physiotherapist to have traction applied professionally before purchasing this apparatus.
