Question:How are flax seeds good for you?
Answer:Native Americans have used flax seeds, also known as linseeds, for years for a wide variety of health problems. They are the richest plant source of the essential omega-3 fat that balances hormones and helps with PMS, menopausal problems, male infertility, and the working of the brain, immune system, heart and arteries. The most common sign of defu ciency is dry skin. In most cases, a daily tablespoon of flax seed oil, either in orange juice or added to salad dressings, soups or cereals, improves dry skin within a week. Alternatively, take capsules - three 1,000mg capsules a day.

Best of all is to eat the seeds. As well as all the beneficial omega-3 fats, the seeds are an excellent source of minerals, vitamin E and protein. You get more out of them by grinding them, since they are so small that they can pass through the digestive system undigested. Whole flax seeds are also excellent for digestive health - soak a dessertspoonful overnight in a glass of water and drink the mixture in the morning. This can not only alleviate constipation but help cleanse the gut of toxins.
