Question:What will happen if I eat too many sweets?
Answer:Compared to some habits, a daily encounter with a bag of sweets might seem innocent enough. But consider this. Concentrated, refined sugar of the type you fmd in sweets is literally a ' sweet nothing' , practically devoid of vitamins and minerals and classified as empty calories. Sugar even uses up valuable nutrients while the body digests it. More: eating too much of it boosts glucose levels in the blood so much that the excess glucose is stored, eventually emerging as fat.

So sugar can pile on the weight. The sudden surges in blood sugar that bingeing on sweets causes also send you on an energy rollercoaster - from sugar highs to exhausted slumps. You end up with an energy imbalance, which triggers a host of symptoms. When your blood sugar is low, for instance, you may experience anything from fatigue to irritability, poor concentration, nervousness, headaches and sweating.

If your consumption of sweets is really out of control you can even be at risk öf Type II diabetes, which is after all just an extreme form of blood sugar imbalance. Sugar can also upset the balance of beneficial bacteria in your gut. So think twice before reaching for that bag or bar: the bitter truth is that you' d be doing your body no favours.
