Question:To what extent do i need to combine grains, pulses and nuts/seeds to optimise protein intake on a vegetarian diet?
Answer:Combining these foods certainly makes a difference in terms of protein utilisation, but you don' t need to do it at every meal. The body has a pool of amino acids that don' t become depleted with each meal, but over a day where you eat no essential amino acids, levels might get low. So try to have a mix each day and throughout the week.

For example, eat seeds and grains for breakfast, and then some beans, nuts, lentils or tofu for lunch and/or dinner. Don' t just eat grains at each meal.

This should be sufficient. Soya/tofu and quinoa are really complete in their own right, so you should make a point of having them regularly.
