Question:On a packet of ginseng I bought it said not to use it if you are diabetic without first consulting your doctor. Could you explain this please?
Answer:A Ginseng helps stabilise the adrenal hormone cortisol. Cortisol also interacts with the body' s blood sugar control. I am not aware of there being any danger for diabetics in taking, say lg of ginseng a day, but neither would I specifically recommend ginseng for people with that condition. The best way to take ginseng if you are diabetic is by starting with a low amount, say 500mg, and increasing up to no more than 3g. But do let your doctor know you are trying this.
