Question:I get pins and needles all over my body during the day, but especially in my hands. What could I take to help this?
Answer:First, if you are anxious or stressed, muscle tension can interfere with your nerves, leaving a tingling sensation in your extremities. So calming tension with massage, exercise or osteopathy could help. If your pins and needles are due to a circulation problem, meaning that not enough oxygen is getting into the cells, vitamin B3 (niacin) gives it a good boost. Take 100mg.

Recurrent pins and needles, especially if accompanied by other symptoms such as fatigue and aching or inflamed joints, may be a sign of toxic overload. For this, you should work with a nutritionist to detoxify your system by following a very healthy diet and taking supplements such as a good antioxidant complex and liver support that includes the herb milk thistle. Generally, detox diets mean you' ll need to cut out all gluten grains such as wheat, barley, oats and rye, and all refined foods, red meat, alcohol and stimulants; concentrate on fresh fruit such as watermelon, kiwi fruits, apricots, red grapes and berries, and fresh vegetables including sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, watercress, broccoli, peppers, spinach and tomatoes; drink 1 to 1.5 litres of pure water a day; and eat judicious amounts of wholegrains such as brown rice, along with oily fish and raw nuts and seeds.
