Question:I wake up with pins and needles - what nutrients could help this?
Answer:Feeling pins and needles on waking is usually caused by lying on part of your body at an awkward angle, which cuts off the blood supply. If this is definitely not the case with you, other things to consider are physical tension and poor circulation. If your muscles do get tense, the mineral magnesium acts as a gentle, natural relaxant - take 300mg before you go to bed. Vitamin B3 (niacin) can also help relax tension and improve blood flow; take 50 to 100mg. Or you can take it as part of a high-strength mutlivitamin, which should provide up to 50mg in the non-blushing niacinamide form. The herb ginkgo is renowned for improving circulation: take 40mg (standardised to contain 24 per cent ginkgoflavonglycosides) three times daily.
