Question:How can I stop my skin from being dry and rough?
Answer:There are two underlying causes of dry, rough skin. The first is deficiency in essential fats. If you don' t eat seeds or nuts and the only oil you use in dressings is olive oil, the chances are you' re not getting enough essential fats. Go to a healthfood shop and buy a bottle of flax seed oil. Have a tablespoon a day, on cereal or salads, in soups - or straight down the hatch. If this is your problem you' ll see a difference in a week.

The other possibility is you' re not getting enough vitamin A - a common cause of dried-out, roughened skin. Arch your fingers and look at the underlying color on the palm side of your fingers. They should have a yellowish hue. If you' re all white/grey there, you' re not getting enough vitamin A. Eat a carrot every day, preferably organic, as there' s twice as much vitamin A in an organic carrot. In a couple of weeks you should notice a slight yellow underlying skin color when you do the ' palm test' .
