Question:I suffer from systemic lupus erythamatosis. What' s your dietary advice?
Answer:Systemic lupus erythamatosis (SLE) is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system, our internal police force, becomes too belligerent and begins to attack the body itself. The best thing you can do is support the immune system with good nutrition. This means plenty of antioxidant-rich foods such as fresh fruit, especially berries, and vegetables, plus enough protein from fish, beans, lentils and a small amount of organic meat. People with SLE often have hidden allergies, with gluten sensitivity the most common. For this reason it is vital that you get yourself checked out by having an IgG food intolerance test (see Resources, page 483, for details on where to take the test).

Sometimes the immune system ' cross-reacts' to a protein in a food and a protein in you. If you do find you are food sensitive avoiding the offending item can make a big difference.

I' d also recommend supplementing 3g of vitamin C a day, as well as a high strength multivitamin and antioxidant formula.
