Question:Why do men seem to lose weight more easily than women?
Answer:Women have a higher percentage of body fat and are literally designed to store more fat. Why? Because fats are essential for foetal development, both for the infant' s brain and also to ensure there are enough calories around to keep mother and baby nourished. This basic design also means that men, proportionately, have more lean body - or muscle - mass. Muscle tissue burns a lot more calories than fat tissue. So if a man decides to lose weight by cutting calories, he' ll have more muscle to burn off unwanted fat. The genetic programming of a man also means that men build muscle quicker, and the more muscle you have the more you can burn off fat. That' s one big reason why exercise, plus fewer calories, works as a weight-loss method. Of course, the same applies for women even if the results are a little slower.
