Question:What can my husband and I do to increase our chances of conceiving?
Answer:Remember that you' re aiming to create a new body from your own (and from healthy sperm, in the case of your husband). So for three months before you start trying to conceive, aim for a super healthy lifestyle.

Give up smoking, minimize alcohol, cut out all recreational drugs and take as few medical drugs as possible. Start eating a diet rich in nutrients, focusing on organic foods, fresh fruit and vegetables, fish and wholegrains, and cutting out processed and junk foods. Take a good-quality multivitamin and mineral with at least 400mcg of folic acid and 15mg of zinc -or supplement extra. Essential fatty acids are crucial, as they support your monthly cycle and the health of your husband' s sperm as well as the development of the nervous system (including the eyes and brain) and immunity in the growing foetus. So ensure you' re getting enough of these beneficial fats by eating good-quality mackerel, wild or organic salmon and other oily fish three times a week, and pumpkin, sunflower and flax seeds as snacks or with your morning cereal - or supplement a high-quality, PCB-free fish oil capsule. And finally, correct any underlying health issues such as ongoing fatigue, digestive problems or high blood pressure.
