Question:What are your views on vitamin E?
Answer:Vitamin E is undoubtedly a star among nutrients. One of the most essential antioxidants, it helps the body use oxygen properly and so provides great protection from pollution and against cancer, as well as slowing down the ageing process. It also helps reduce the likelihood of blood clots and thrombosis. Studies" have shown that vitamin E reduces the risk of heart attacks, colon cancer, Alzheimer' s and cataracts. Vitamin E is essential for a healthy immune system. As a fat-soluble antioxidant, it works particularly well in tandem with vitamin C, which is water-soluble. This is because the body' s tissues and fluids are either water or fat-based, so vitamins E and C act as a dynamic duo.

You can get vitamin E from nuts, seeds and their oils, unrefined corn oil and wheatgerm. For optimum health, make sure your multivitamin contains at least lOOmg (150iu) of vitamin E. If you are at risk of heart disease or want extra protection, take 400mg (600iu).
