Question:How do plastic surgeons get rid of lines on your face with injections? I saw a show on TV about this. Can it be done in Australia?
Answer:A heavily lined, wrinkled, sunken face can be considerably fleshed out and smoothed by injecting very small amounts of collagen under the skin in the appropriate places. Initially, the face will be swollen and bruised, but after a few weeks, this will subside, and a smoother less wrinkled face should emerge. Many plastic surgeons in Australia are now performing this procedure, but it is not suitable for all patients. Those with sagging excess skin, or too much fat in their face, are still better helped by the traditional surgical facelift. Sometimes surgery and injections are combined to give the best result. You should ask your GP for a referral to a plastic surgeon, and you can discuss the matter further with him or her.
