Question:How do you deal with someone who is having an epileptic fit?
Answer:Do NOT put your finger or anything else in the patient' s mouth. You will only injure your finger or the mouth. Lie the person on their side with the top arm and leg bent forward, and the bottom arm and leg straight and slightly behind the body. This is known as the coma position. To stop the person choking, place the finger tips of both hands behind the jaw on each side, pull the jaw forward and bend the neck back. Hold the patient in this position until the fit passes. Most fits only last a minute or two. Send others for help if it lasts more than two minutes.
