Question:Why do haemorrhoids cause itching? Chemist preparations don' t help much.
Answer:Haemorrhoids (or piles—they are one and the same thing), are basically damaged veins around the anus, that balloon out, become painful and bleed. They itch because the skin over the pile is irritated by clothing, heat, sweat, scratching and hard motions. Piles are best prevented by keeping regular at the toilet, and avoiding constipation.
