Question:When I go to bed, I can' t get to sleep because I feel that I have to keep moving my legs. They feel as though they want to go on a marathon run. What can I do about it?
Answer:Before reading the answer to this question you must promise not to laugh! Are you ready? Well your problem is almost certainly due to the restless legs syndrome—and NO, I' m not kidding—there is such a medical entity! It is also a very distressing problem for many people. Its cause is not understood, and it does not seem to be related to exercise. Getting out of bed and going for a run doesn' t help either. Treatment involves keeping the legs coolet than the body, using paracetamol, or taking a very small dose of a mild muscle relaxant such as Valium, or one of a number of similar drugs that may be prescribed by your doctor.
