Question:I would like to ask you why my feet and legs get very hot in bed? I have to get out of bed and cool them. I will be 88 if I live until 25th December, and generally well, but take blood pressure tablets.
Answer:You feel heat in the skin when the blood vessels just undet the skin dilate. This typically happens when you have a fever or blush. Many medications to lower high blood pressure work by opening up (dilating) the blood vessels everywhere in the body to allow the blood to flow through them more freely through them and therefore lower the pressure. A sensation of warm skin is a common minor complaint of patients who are taking tablets to control high blood pressure. It is not serious, and causes no long-term problems, but if you are finding it a nuisance, you should discuss the matter further with your general practitionet, as a different combination of tablets for your blood pressure may be possible.
