Question:My GP gave me Andriol tablets to help my sex life, and now I can get an erection, but I can' t ejaculate with sex, only with masturbation. I would rather ejaculate while having sex. Can you help me?
Answer:Andriol is the trade name of capsules filled with form of testosterone, the male hormone. It is normally used if there is a measurable lack of testosterone on blood tests which is causing problems in obtaining an erection. An erection and ejaculation are triggered by totally different nerve pathways. It is possible (but uncommon) to ejaculate without an erection, and many men find it difficult to ejaculate with sex. Because of these different nerve pathways, different types of stimulation to the penis and brain are necessary for these two activities. You may be able to modify the stimulation during masturbation to allow ejaculation, but sex may not give the same type or intensity of stimulation. I would suggest that you try different positions for sex, which may increase the stimulation to the skin just behind the head of the penis, which is the most sensitive area. You may also be able to ask your partner to position herself or tighten her vaginal muscles in a way that increases your stimulation. Additional medications are not going to help the problem.
