A cancer that starts in the liver and has not spread to the liver from some other organ. |
Causes of Liver Cancer Occur most commonly in patients who have long-standing alcoholic cirrhosis, hepatitis B or C, liver parasites and malnutrition. Far more common in developing countries. |
Symptoms of Liver Cancer Often no symptoms until the cancer is well advanced, at which point the liver begins to fail and the patient becomes jaundiced (yellow), nauseated, very weak, loses weight and is unable to cat. |
Tests for Liver Cancer Diagnosis confirmed by blood tests, liver biopsy, ultrasound and CT scans. |
Treatment for Liver Cancer No surgical or medical treatment available in most cases, as almost invariably the cancer has spread too far by the time it is diagnosed.

Complications of Liver Cancer of its treatment At a late stage of the disease the abdomen may become swollen with fluid. |
