A rapidly developing form of dermatitis associated with stress.
Causes of Neurodermatitis
May be triggered by stress from an exam, job interview, marriage or any other event. It does not mean that you are neurotic or in need of psychiatric care, the rash is merely an outward manifestation of a sometimes minor stress in an otherwise normal person.
Symptoms of Neurodermatitis
Multiple very itchy, small red raised lumps on the skin that may fluctuate quite rapidly in their intensity. The front of the wrist, inside of the elbow and backs of the knees are the most commonly affected areas, but it may occur anywhere.
Tests for Neurodermatitis
None normally necessary.
Treatment for Neurodermatitis
Mild steroid cream to reduce inflammation in the skin.
Complications of Neurodermatitis of its treatment
None significant.
Likely Outcome of Neurodermatitis
If the cream is applied as soon as the rash appears, it should settle almost immediately.
