The Australian red-back spider is found in dark and protected areas, often hiding under cast-off tins and other rubbish. Only the female bites, and her body is the size of a pea, dark brown to black in color, with the distinctive red or orange stripe running down the back.

Unknown.
Symptoms of Red-Back Spider Bite
Intense pain at site of bite, tingling around the mouth, generalized pain, nausea and vomiting, profuse sweating, weakness and faintness, swelling around the bite and a rapid pulse.
Tests for Red-Back Spider Bite
None normally necessary.
Treatment for Red-Back Spider Bite
Reassure the victim, relieve the pain by applying an ice cube wrapped in damp material to the bite (but do not freeze or damage the skin) and get medical help. Do NOT apply pressure immobilization. An antivenin injection is available.
Complications of Red-Back Spider Bite of its treatment
Ulcer formation at the site of the bite.
Likely Outcome of Red-Back Spider Bite
The venom is relatively slow-acting, and provided there is no undue delay in obtaining treatment the victim should recover. Deaths have occurred in infants, but not older children.
