Swabs taken from discharging lymph nodes are examined to confirm the diagnosis.

Treatment for Scrofula
Cutting out the affected lymph nodes and giving antituberculosis medications.

Complications of Scrofula of its treatment
May spread from the lymph nodes to other organs including the lungs, brain and heart.

Likely Outcome of Scrofula
Good with appropriate treatment, but permanent scarring usually occurs.
