Severe bacterial infection of the blood (septicemia).

High fever, very low blood pressure, rapid breathing and heart rate, confusion, poor output of urine and eventually coma.

Treatment for Septic Shock
Fluids by drip into a vein to increase blood pressure, and potent antibiotics into the drip. Management in intensive care unit and if necessary kidney dialysis and artificial respiration.
Complications of Septic Shock of its treatment
Permanent damage to organs from poor blood supply or blood clots (thrombosis).
Likely Outcome of Septic Shock
Mortality rate of 50% within a month in good hospitals, and further deaths later from organ damage. Survival rates better in the young, but worse in the elderly or debilitated.
