Causes of Urethral Syndrome May be due to unidentified bacterial infection (eg. Ureaplasma urealyticum), interstitial cystitis, trigonitis, bladder tumors or bladder prolapse into vagina. |
Symptoms of Urethral Syndrome Pain when passing urine and passing urine very frequently. No bacterial infection can usually be found. |
Tests for Urethral Syndrome Urine tests completely normal, but cystoscopy (passing a thin examining tube through the urethra into the bladder) may show inflammation. |
Treatment for Urethral Syndrome Often unsatisfactory. Antibiotics, mixtures to make urine alkaline and bladder irrigation with antiseptic solution can be tried. Prevented by passing urine after sex.
