Causes of Vasovagal Syndrome
Stress, anxiety or significant emotional or physical upset in past. Attacks triggered by memory or association with past incident at times when there is another minor stress or possibility of fainting.
Symptoms of Vasovagal Syndrome
Recurrent episodes of fainting, low blood pressure, pale complexion and slow heart rate.
Tests for Vasovagal Syndrome
Low blood pressure, slow pulse and abnormal ECG (electrocardiograph) during attack.
Treatment for Vasovagal Syndrome
Avoid precipitating causes (eg. prolonged standing), lie down or bend forward with start of symptoms, and aromatic inhalations.
Complications of Vasovagal Syndrome of its treatment
Injury from falling.
Likely Outcome of Vasovagal Syndrome
Settles eventually, but slowly.
