A collection of pus (abscess) within the liver caused by a bacterial or rarely a fungal infection. |
Causes of Liver Abscess May be due to the spread of bacteria from other organs to the liver through the bloodstream or may spread through the abdomen to the liver from other infections within the belly such as appendicitis, salpingitis (infected fallopian tubes) or an infected gall bladder. |
Symptoms of Liver Abscess Fever, pain and tenderness in the upper abdomen, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting and weight loss may all occur. |
