Question:My kid has been diagnosed with anal retention problem by a pediatrician. She is 3 years old and with no health problems. But, she is very afraid of the whole thing. I am very much concerned for my kid. Can you provide me any suggestion?
Answer:This problem will resolve with time. So, you need not to worry. Only thing you need to be very patient and supportive to your kid.

When child avoids bowl movement or withhold it, it will cause constipation. Constipation only aggravates the problem and makes it uncomfortable and painful for the kid.

It will be better, if you consult your kid pediatrician and ask any treatment or regimen to promote the regular bowel movement. They may give some laxative or stool softener to deal with the constipation.

You can schedule the time to make your daughter sit on the toilet. You may have to be little bit strict with your daughter to follow the routine. But, that doesn' t mean nagging or disappointing your kid for this. Have positive and friendly talks with your daughter at this time. Also, provide your kid plenty of fruits, fibrous foods and a lot of fluid to avoid constipation. The problem will gradually disappear.
