Question:I' m often panicky, get mood swings and am always tired. Can nutrition help?
Answer:Sounds like you' re adrenally exhausted. Your adrenal glands, which sit on top of the kidneys, produce hormones that help you cope with the ups and downs of life. However, if you overwork the adrenal glands they' ll eventually under function. The classic signs are feeling tired on waking, unable to cope with stress, and experiencing sudden moods swings and general anxiety.

There are two ways to bring you back to balance. Firstly, stop stressing yourself out. The more sugar, coffee, nicotine and stress you consume or expose yourself to, the more adrenally exhausted you' ll become. Secondly, you can support normal, healthy adrenal function with certain nutrients and herbs. Two amino acids, the constituents of protein, called tyrosine and dl-phenylalanine, are the building blocks of your stress hormones. Then there are the adaptogenic herbs Chinese ginseng, Siberian ginseng (eleuthero-coccus), rhodiola, ashwaganda and reishi. These help you to adapt to stress by supporting normal, healthy adrenal function. Alternatively, try supplementing 2g of tyrosine.
